GENERAL INFORMATION REQUIRED WITH PERMIT APPLICATIONS
1. A signed and dated
building permit with the required
fee
2. Show the estimated cost and permit fee on the application
3. A plot plan showing new structure location and the distance from the property line
4. Detailed building construction plan
(see attached example), including the following:
- Show top, side, and front views of the deck including angles and dimensions
- Show elevations and slope of ground
- Size of the deck
- Height of the deck off the ground
- How the deck is attached to the house
- Size of beams & how the beams were constructed
- Size of joists
- Size and location of posts
- Footers - minimum of 36" deep - diameter and size
- Detail on handrails - 36" high. 4" maximum space between balusters
- Show stairs
5. All pressure treated
or naturally durable lumber
(cedar, redwood, etc.)
6. Deck must meet 60 lbs. per square foot live load
7. Check with your Homeowners Association for approval
