Whitemarsh Township maintains approximately 160 acres of parks and open space for active and passive recreation. The primary recreation areas are:
Miles Park is located at the intersection of Joshua Road and Germantown Pike. The park features 5 baseball fields, 2 softball fields, a soccer field, picnic pavilion, walking and jogging path, and fitness stations. The jogging path is 5/8th of a mile in distance. The park received a new playground in the summer of 2000, and the Department is planning for a tot lot play area to be ready in the spring of 2001 with the assistance of the Patrons of the Whitemarsh Parks.
Cedar Grove Park is located on Cedar Grove Road near Spring Mill Road. The Whitemarsh Community Arts Center and the Cedar Grove Barn are both located in this park as well as t-ball fields, a baseball/softball field, and a basketball court. The playground area has pre-school appropriate structures and will be receiving some renovations in the spring of 2001.
Leeland Park is located at North Lane and Jones Street. It features a t-ball/softball field, two basketball courts, and picnic tables. A new playground structure was installed in the summer of 2000 and a new swing set in the spring of 2000.
Valley Green Park is located on Church Road at the intersection of East Valley Green Road. The park features a softball field, two half basketball courts, picnic pavilion, and playground equipment. Renovations to Valley Green Park began in the fall of 2000, and phase one will be completed in the early spring of 200. Phase two of the renovation project is projected to be completed in 2001 with the installation of a new playground structure.
