Parks & Recreation
The Recreation Department with the direction of the Park and Recreation Board is responsible for the development and operation of recreational facilities and programs for the Township.
The Recreation Department is headed by a Recreation Coordinator whose responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Planning, organizing and conducting all Township-sponsored recreational programs, activities and special events;
- Organizing volunteers who will perform various program activities;
- Develop, in cooperation with the Park and Recreation Board, recreational programs, rules and regulations for the use of Township-owned park and recreational facilities for approval by the Board of Supervisors;
- Plan, develop and design, in cooperation with other appropriate departments, Township parks and recreational facilities owned, acquired or designated by the Township;
- Review proposals for mutual cooperation on recreation opportunities with other governmental agencies;
- Supervise employees retained to implement recreational programs;
- Coordinate with the Public Works Director needed park improvements;
- Attend all meetings of the Park and Recreation Board, serving as its secretariat and act in an advisory capacity to that body.
- Stimulate citizen participation in Township recreational programs and shall serve as liaison to organizations involved in Township recreational activities; and
- Coordinate with appropriate Township departments, where necessary, to ensure implementation of Township recreational programs.
