WHITEMARSH HAPPENINGS - DECEMBER, 2017


HOLIDAY TRASH & RECYCLING COLLECTION SCHEDULE


There will be no trash & recycling collection on Monday, December 25 in observance of Christmas. Residents whose regular trash & recycling collection date is Monday, December 25will have trash & recycling collection on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 27. There will be no yard waste collection on Wednesday, December 27. Yard waste collection will be moved to Saturday, December 30.

There will be no trash & recycling collection on Monday, January 1 in observance of New Year's Day. Residents whose regular trash & recycling collection date is Monday, January 1 will have trash & recycling collection on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2018. There will be no yard waste collection on Wednesday, January 3. Yard waste collection will be moved to Saturday, January 6, 2018.

GINGERBREAD HOUSE DECORATING

Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 1pm to 3 pm at the Old Parks & Recreation Building, Program Room A (4021 Joshua Road, next to Miles Park). Cost is $15 per house. (This event is not recommended for children under age 4. Adult supervision IS required.)


BLOOD DRIVE

Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Township Building (616 Germantown Pike). Sign up to donate at www.redcross.org and type in Whitemarsh Township to find the Dec. 27 drive. Donors will receive a free long-sleeve American Red Cross shirt (while supplies last!). Get more information from the Township website.


ROAD CLOSURES


AQUA: November 14, 2017 to Spring, 2018 for water main replacement on Lantern Lane (from Revere Road to 2195 Lantern), Concord Lane (from Joshua Road to Lantern), and Revere Road (from Joshua Road to 413 Revere). 

Construction takes place weekdays between 7 am and 3:30 pm. Access will be provided for emergency, mail, school bus and trash services. Residents will have access to their properties but at times will need to enter from a different direction due to changing work zones. Aqua will notify customers 24 hours in advance of any scheduled shutdown, however with any construction project, an emergency shutdown may be necessary. In such case, Aqua will work to restore service as soon as possible. 


PECO: Closure of Flourtown Road weekdays between Joshua Road and Plymouth Road from Monday, November 20, through Monday, December 11, from 9 AM to 3 PM, for gas main replacement. During construction, Flourtown Road motorists will be detoured over Joshua Road, Germantown Pike and Plymouth Road. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. The schedule is weather dependent.

The Whitemarsh Township Board of Supervisors receives the assistance of various Boards and Commissions in the operations of the Township. The various Boards/Commissions are staffed by citizen volunteers who commit hours of their personal time and bring their talents and skills to the Township Government.
