Whitemarsh Township History Tour

Sunday, May 17th, 2020

8:30am - 3:30pm

Check-In at St. Thomas Church

610 Church Road

Flourtown, PA 19031

Whitemarsh Township is steeped in a rich history that touches on religious freedom, the Revolutionary and Civil Wars and local industries that helped sustain and advance our Township.  Officially incorporated in 1704, the Township’s history stretches back even further to days of its inhabitation by the Lenni Lenape tribe of Native Americans and land grants issued by William Penn.  Whitemarsh Township played a key role in the American Revolution and its resources, including marble and limestone, helped shape a young nation.  Its topographical features include hills made famous during the Revolutionary War, the Wissahickon Watershed, quarries and access to the Schuylkill River that was so critical to early industry.

Thanks to the ongoing efforts of local historical societies and groups, the history of Whitemarsh Township has been preserved for future generations.  In addition to preservation, these groups are dedicated to sharing that information so that we all may understand and appreciate the early days of our Township.  Join us on this guided tour for a glimpse of the web of history that runs through the entire Township.

Check-In will be at St. Thomas Church.

The guided tour will board a school bus and make numerous stops in and around Whitemarsh Township.

Lunch is included with your registration. Space is limited, so register today!
