Whitemarsh Township Authority

SEPTEMBER 26, 2011 LETTER TO RESIDENTS: Information regarding changes in billing and collecting of sewer charges.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WAS NO BILL INCLUDED IN THE LETTER AS INCORRECTLY STATED ON THE ENVELOPE OF THE LETTER. The sewer bills are scheduled to be distributed towards the end of October, 2011 by the Whitemarsh Township Authority.

The Whitemarsh Township Authority consists of five residents appointed by the Board of Supervisors, serving overlapping five year terms. The Authority is responsible for the sanitary sewer system and powers and duties are as follows:

• Section 3-57. Township Authority.
  A. Where is hereby recognized the existence of the Township Authority for the purposes permitted by general law when ordained by the Board of Supervisors.
  B. Membership; terms; vacancies.
  (1) Creation, termination, powers and functions of the Township Authority shall be governed by the Municipalities Authorities Act of 1945, P.L. 382, and its amendments.EN
  (2) The Whitemarsh Township Authority shall consist of five members serving overlapping five-year terms.
  (3) Should a vacancy occur, the Board of Supervisors shall appoint a member to fill the vacancy only for the unexpired portion of the term.
  C. Powers and duties. The duties of Authority members shall be as specified under the Municipalities Authorities Act of 1945, as amended.
  
• Chapter 95 of the Code of the Township of Whitemarsh establishes certain provisions regarding sanitary sewers.
