We hope that you and your family have remained safe & healthy during these extraordinary times. As you may be aware, many programs, activities, and special events are being cancelled throughout the county, region, and state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Understandably, our department has been receiving questions regarding how COVID-19 will affect our camps, programs, and special events. This web page will provide answers to some of the most common questions that we’ve received. It will also include the most up-to-date information made available by our department. This information will be updated as developments occur, so please be sure to check back periodically.

Sanitization of Playgrounds

The Township has spoken to the Pennsylvania Department of Health and it is recommended to sanitize high touch areas in the park playgrounds. At this time, the Township is sanitizing the playground equipment daily with a BNC One Step Disinfectant Cleaner manufactured by Spartan. It is an EPA and CDC approved sanitizer that has a 3 minute time period to eliminate a wide range of viruses and bacteria. This application is being applied first thing in the morning. At our camp sites it is also performed each weekday at the completion of camp. Once a week, the Township has contracted to have the play equipment sprayed with Sodium Hypochlorite which is approved through the EPA and CDC as a way to disinfect and clean exterior surfaces. The chemicals are less than 1% of the solution once combined with the water and soaps. This application will regularly take place early morning (7am-9am) or late in the evening (9pm). In both cases, the equipment can be used once it is dry, which takes 5-10 minutes after application in the summer heat. Staff is on-site to make sure that equipment is safe and advise the public as would be needed.

  • Medications
  • Extra Clothes
  • Re-Usable Water Bottle
  • 2 Snacks

Camp App

This year we will again be utilizing Procare (formally Kinderlime) for attendance and reporting software. You will be receiving an email prior to your start at camp, with instructions for downloading the app onto your smart phone. We suggest adding a photo of yourself so it helps the staff learn who you are. We will add a photo of your child the first day, unless you would like to update the site yourself.

Camp Handbooks

A camp handbook will be emailed to you prior to your start at camp. You are encouraged to review these prior to camp, and contact Jon Walker - Recreation Superintendent - at JWalker@whitemarshtwp.org, with any questions.

Miles Park Fall Camp Health & Safety Plan

Restroom Usage Plan

Whitemarsh Township Parks & Recreation will be keeping all restrooms secure during camp hours in order to keep the facilities for camp use only. Public Restrooms will not be available to park users to provide the highest degree of camper safety. Campers will be escorted to the restroom when needed and during scheduled times. Camp staff will be disinfecting the restrooms after each use and making sure campers are washing their hands.

Face Masks/Coverings At Camp

While we are not requiring camper’s to wear masks, campers are permitted to wear them at your discretion. All Parks & Recreation Staff will be required to wear masks during camp hours while interacting with your child in accordance with CDC and state guidelines.

Safety Measures & Supplies

We are happy to report, all additional (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment and materials that are required to sanitize, disinfect and clean due to COVID-19 regulations have been acquired by Whitemarsh Township, and will be utilized.
